VC & Startups Roundtable

Mark Marich on April 23, 2010 Source: Policy Dialogue on Entrepreneurship

According to PWC Money Tree 90% of “startup capital” comes from angel investors; who are these angels? How do angels and professionally managed angel groups contribute to the life cycle of a company; where do angels invest? where do VC’s invest? Also, the SBA Business Dynamics Statistics reports that all net new jobs from 1985 – 2005 came from companies less than 5 years old. If angel capital represents 90% of the start-up funding, what can we surmise about the role of angel capital in job creation based upon the SBA report?

These questions and more will be examined at an upcoming roundtable and webinar hosted by the National Association for Business Economics. The Current Environment for Venture Capital and Start-ups will feature the following speakers:

  • Alicia Robb, Senior Research Fellow, Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, moderator
  • John Taylor, Vice President of Research, National Venture Capital Association
  • Catherine Mott, CEO & Founder, Blue Tree Capital Group, and Chairman, Angel Capital Education Foundation

The roundtable is scheduled for Tuesday, April 27 from 2:00 - 3:00 pm EDT. Visit the NABE website to register
