From Concept to 34 Cities in 24 Months

Recently, we celebrated the two-year anniversary of the launch of 1 Million Cups. We never try to hide the fact that 1 Million Cups was/is still a large experiment in how to build grassroots entrepreneurial communities. MINDDRIVE Teaches Kids To Build Electric Cars…From Scratch

The whir and high-pitched screech draw my ear, but the flashing specks of bright light shooting up from a work station across the garage force me to look away. The mentor and student working around the station do not flinch. They're both used to all the excitement by now. MINDDRIVE has become their second home on Saturdays, as it has to all the other mentors and students participating in the program that teaches kids how to build cars--from scratch.

Chamber of Commerce Experiements with Entrepreneurs

Not long ago, the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce decided that it wanted to position the community as the most entrepreneurial city in America. And after almost three years, Kansas City is making strides to achieve this goal. Reverse Pitch Connects Corporations With Entrepreneurs

Something extraordinary happened in Kansas City last Thursday. For the second year in a row, some of Kansas City's largest organizations participated in a reverse pitch. KCNext, the host and organizer, brought in a capacity crowd of over 200 entrepreneurs and other Global Entrepreneurship Week event participants. There were 65 events in Kansas City spread across a week and a half. But this event was different. This one was special.

A Stroll through Startup Village
A lone startup that had set up shop in a house on a nondescript Kansas City block has some new neighbors. In less than one year—with the recent installation of Google Fiber serving as a potential catalyst—that same block is now home to a dense pocket of startup activity and has been duly dubbed the Kansas City Startup Village.
