What Arbys Can Teach Startups About Digital Marketing

Last night, I sat down to watch the Grammys--remote in one hand, phone in the other. As is typical these days, a primetime award show, sporting event or political presser isn't quite complete without the added noise of what the rest of the world thinks about what's going on in front of us onscreen. But as luck would have it, this occasion provided me with an important and far-more-lasting lesson in the power of digital media than the reasoning behind Lorde's black fingertips. And it was all thanks to Pharrell Williams' hat.

Can Social Entrepreneurship Save our Earth?

In a time when our world's escalating environmental and social woes are weighing heavy on my mind, it was an uplifting change of pace to sit down with Gifford Pinchot III. Beyond being a best-selling author and the legend credited with coining the term intrapreneurship, Gifford is co-founder of the Bainbridge Graduate Institute, an amazing school that has turned both education and entrepreneurship on its head by offering the first MBA in sustainable business.

Building An Online Brand For Your Startup

Strategic words are out. Personal search is in. This week, the Kauffman Foundation held a seminar on "Online Branding for Startups" with help from Mark Traphagen of Virante, a SEO marketing firm out of Durham, N.C. I learned a number of things in the hours we discussed branding with entrepreneurs and Kauffman associates, but here are my top four takeaways.
