Top of Mind's 5 Must-Read Articles in Entrepreneurship

Thom Ruhe on June 04, 2014 Source: e360 Blog

Thom_RuheThe media seems to be a buzz with the nation's small business decline. From the increase in the number of startups failing, to the decrease in the number being started, this trend--not the reason for it, much to my disappointment--is being spun across the nation's news outlets. Entrepreneurship certainly ebbs and flows and while policymakers and entrepreneurial ecosystem members (hopefully) figure out what's causing the current ebb, I am encouraged to see another source stepping up to increase a form of entreprenruship: intrapreneurship.

The central hub of Canada accounts for 68 percent of all investments and in 2013 it accounted for 78 percent of all dollar investments.

The Regional Impact of Quality of Life on Entrepreneurial Decisions

Policymakers have been working the past several years to provide incentives for companies of all sizes through tax incentives, venture capital, public-private partnerships, workforce training, etc. However, policymakers are overlooking a few other things. One of the biggest pieces being overlooked is quality of life. This may not always be the number one deciding factor when an entrepreneur decides to move, but it certainly can be the make or break piece between two metropolitan areas.

Three Crowdfunding Trends Entrepreneurs Shouldn't Ignore

By the end of 2014, crowdfunding is predicted to create nearly 270,000 jobs and generate $65 billion into the economy. This article includes three crowdfunding movements that entrepreneurs can take advantage of.
