HackerYou Presents: Intro to Web Development - A 72-Hour Course

This hands-on, 72-hour course will help students build a foundation in the skills needed to create websites (and mobile-optimized versions) using HTML (with HTML5 properties) and CSS3. Students will also learn how to turn a designer’s vision into reality (by taking PSD files and turning them into a fully-functional website), and communicate more effectively with developers and other technical folks in their organization.

What you will learn:

• Best practices and fundamentals of web design and development

• Style, architecture and layout of a website

• Typography and custom web fonts

• HTML5 and CSS elements

• Mobile responsive design

• Form elements and field validation

• Developer tools, tips and site testing

• Google Analytics and SEO integration

What you will build

• Start by building a simple website

• Create a style and brand guide

• Add hover states, background images, gradients and more

• Include a header, footer, sidebar and navigation

• Build a contact form with field validation

• Add a portfolio to showcase your work

• Create a mobile-friendly version

FINAL PROJECT: Take a full web design and turn it into a fully functional (and mobile-friendly) website.


Includes 72 hours of in-class learning, and access to the HackerYou Forum. (Plus a lot more. Obviously.)
