Outstanding Women Series with Moira Kelly
Modern Day Crusader
Devoted to humanitarian and social work since childhood, Moira has trained as a Special Education teaching assistant, a missionary and a Probation Officer.
She has also worked as a "house mother" at an Aboriginal mission and alongside Mother Teresa in Calcutta.
In 1999 Moira set up the not-for-profit Children First Foundation, which works to provide medical care for seriously ill children in developing countries.
Moira’s outstanding humanitarian work has been recognised with several awards, including the Prime Minister's Award for outstanding community service, the Paul Harris Rotary International Award, the White Flame Award for services to disadvantaged children and the first Sir Edward Dunlop award for humanitarian service. Moira also received the Victorian of the Year award and was nominated for the Australian of the Year award in both 2003 and 2004.
In 2001, Moira was awarded an Order of Australia in recognition of her service to both the Australian and international communities.
Today Moira works full-time as the Executive Director of the Children First Foundation. She is also the devoted guardian of the cranially conjoined Bangladeshi twins, Trishna and Krishna, who were separated in 2009 at Melbourne's Royal Children's Hospital.
We are delighted to welcome her as the speaker for our Outstanding Women Series breakfast in May.
