The most recent Small Business Optimism Index from the National Federation of Independent Businesses says that while the September figures might be too early to really measure the full impact of the shutdown, the economic outlook is definitely depressed.

Scott Howell, head of patient access at Genentech, led a panel at a Life Science Ventures Summit hosted by the Kauffman Foundation on the topic of reimbursement strategies. Howell directed the panel, consisting of Christine Bunt, Danielle Zurovcik, Steve Rosenberg and Sean Duffy, on the sub-topic of payer insights.
Last Thursday, I joined 120 problem-solvers from around the Midwest at the iKC event at the H&R Block Headquarters. The event was an un-conference, meaning there were no pre-set rules or even an agenda. We came together to choose and vote on several topics of discussion we found interesting, and we then had four breakout sessions throughout the day to meet and discuss the 28 selected topics.
