What is Series A financing?

Series A financing, also known as an "A round," is typically a company's first significant round of financing. It is the funding stage that comes after seed capital and usually involves offering company ownership to outside investors for the first time.

According to Entrepreneur, Series A financing often corresponds with a startup's readiness to launch. The business might be seeing its first revenues, but has yet to turn a profit.
