MIT Most Highly Regarded University Innovation Ecosystem

Ask an expert which university has the leading university-based technology innovation ecosystem in the world and you are likely to hear them say “MIT.” A ranking of 120 universities that demonstrate a “decisive impact and significant contribution in the field of entrepreneurship and innovation” has pointed to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology as the world leader.

Stanford Top MBA Program for Entrepreneurship

Stanford business school students put it at the top of the list of business schools—at least in regards to its offerings for entrepreneurship. As part of its rankings of the best business schools from the class of 2012, Bloomberg Businessweek asked students at 82 U.S. and international schools to rank their entrepreneurship programs.

PCAST Tackles Spectrum Sharing, Advanced Manufacturing

Last week was a busy one for the President’s Council of Advisors on Science & Technology, an advisory group of the nation’s leading scientists and engineers who make policy recommendations “where understanding of science, technology and innovation is key to strengthening our economy.” In two separate reports, PCAST explored approaches to meet the sky-rocketing demand for wireless broadband as well as the necessary steps to provide long-term U.S. leadership in advanced manufacturing.

This Week in Entrepreneurship Policy

A fairly slow week on Capitol Hill is punctuated by a Joint Economic Committee hearing on "How the Taxation of Labor and Transfer Payments Affect Growth and Employment." Witnesses for the hearing are: Simon Johnson, entrepreneurship professor from MIT; Richard Rogerson, economics professor from Princeton; and Andrew Biggs, resident scholar at AEI (and former principle deputy commissioner of the Social Security Administration).

State of Entrepreneurship Address: A Roadmap for State Growth

Heading into what promises to be a heated general election year, the Kauffman Foundation has turned the focus of its third annual State of Entrepreneurship Address back to the state and local level. Later this week at the National Press Club, Benno Schmidt, the Foundation’s interim president, will present “A Roadmap for State Growth,” touching on a number of proposed recommendations regarding state and local laws and regulations—that won’t break policymakers’ budgets.
