Measuring Entrepreneurship & Innovation

Posted by: Mark Marich on March 02, 2009 Source: Policy Dialogue on Entrepreneurship

As part of an effort to address limitations to both the collection and monitoring of data on entrepreneurship and innovation, the Kauffman Foundation organized yet another Data Symposium. The 2008 Data Symposium took place last November in Washington DC and brought together more than 180 representatives from statistical offices, academia, and other interested individuals to discuss specific proposals for tangible improvements to data sources. The symposium highlighted twenty-five presentations, each with a different proposal for advancing our understanding of entrepreneurship and/or innovation.

The Symposium is being organized by EJ Reedy, who has a new blog on the Kauffman website looking to address the lack of data to support public policy decisions about entrepreneurship and innovation. DataMaven allows the worldwide data community to share, track and connect projects that help address the shortcoming.
