The State of Entrepreneurship in Montana

Posted by: Mark Marich on March 30, 2009 Source: Policy Dialogue on Entrepreneurship

Montana is among the most entrepreneurial states in the US, at least that's the message from a new study from Montana’s Workforce Information Center. The study assesses entrepreneurial activity in Montana according to a number of different metrics, including new business starts, new business growth, and entrepreneurial propensities.

Montana outperforms national averages on all measures. Analysts attribute the results to a friendly business and tax climate, and Montana’s relatively high average education levels. The report will certainly interest those with a connection to Montana, but it also offers a useful template for other states and regions that are seeking to present a user-friendly depiction of their local entrepreneurial economies.
