Who Do You Trust? Government or Entrepreneurs?

Posted by: Mark Marich on March 23, 2009 Source: Policy Dialogue on Entrepreneurship

Who will lead us out of this recession? The answer seems fairly clear for a majority of the American public.

A new survey by the Kauffman Foundation shows a strong public sentiment that government should be doing more to encourage entrepreneurship. Nearly 3-to-1 (63 percent to 22 percent) say the United States government needs toencourage the creation of new businesses while only 22 percent favor the government creating new jobs in thepublic and private sector.

Last week's announcement from the Obama Administration of a $15 billion package to improve credit for small business is likely a step in the right direction.
