The Presidential Summit's Report Card

Posted by: Mark Marich on May 04, 2010 Source: Policy Dialogue on Entrepreneurship

Tim Kane, blogger for growthology.org and Senior Fellow at the Kauffman Foundation, has graded the Presidential Summit on Entrepreneurship, separating his report into the following aspects:

Title: A - “They could have had a summit on "Development" or on "Peace" which would have been instantly forgettable gatherings. This topic has some bite to it, and it's something tangible and deep enough that all Americans should be cheering the President.”

Team: A – The team included the President, Secretary Gary Locke, Melody Barnes, Secretary of State Clinton, Arne Duncan, Rajiv Shah and many more.

Agenda: B – Kane reported that an objective accounting of which countries are getting which policies right seemed to be missing.

Speech: “I don't think it's appropriate to simplify a presidential speech with a letter grade. But I thought President Obama's remarks were excellent."

Kane writes: “In ten years, the most important outcome of the summit will simply be there was a summit at all.” “... I don't agree with the Obama administration on everything. But this summit deserves our full-throated support.”
