Entrepreneurship Weekly News Roundup- 7-2-10

Posted by: Thom Ruhe on July 02, 2010 Source: e360 Blog

This weekend marks the patriotic holiday in America, Independence Day.  In honor of this holiday this week’s roundup will be focused around the entrepreneurial spirit that helped shape our great nation.

George Washington, best known for leading the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War also embarked on entrepreneurial ventures. One of those ventures was running a fishing operation that processed 1.5 million fish per year and sold throughout the 13 American colonies. He also built one of the largest whiskey distilleries in his later years.

Taking a look back through America’s history, the country holds a long list of innovative entrepreneurs.  Ben Franklin is sometimes considered America’s first entrepreneur.  From printer to author and businessman, he paved the way for the modern day entrepreneurial values.

During this holiday weekend, make sure to take the time and reflect on those individuals who forged the entrepreneurial path and made a lasting impact on America.
