Etsy is one of the startups mentioned in the top 20 list that is going gangbusters in terms of popularity. It's a super cool site. The deals are nuts, btw.

Keep these lists coming. Great to see NYC producing great companies. Proves that not all the action is on the West coast.

I admire any startup, it really does take a lot of work to get anywhere in a business now-a-days. So those that achieve this level of success are certainly deserving of a lot of respect!

I will definitely try out Kawasaki's steps to innovation. I never thought about his first step - amount creating meaning instead of money and I think that is a truly important step. Many of us are caught thinking about making money and that affects our company and products. His other steps are great too, but I believe that first step gets everyone into the right mindset.

Thanks for sharing this with us.

awesome article. Humera is the co-founder of Edical May, a manufacturing and business development company enabling scale-up of new medical devices. She spearheaded the Western Massachusetts Regional Technology Corporation. Humera began her career at materials manufacturer Intelicoat. She worked her way up from operations to technical support, and finally to managing a $40 million business unit in the CAD arena and cultivating a new digital proofing business unit.

Nice post Thom, I really liked the discussion by Guy Kawasaki about inovation. I tend to agree that true inovation comes as a result to solve a problem rather than trying to make money first.

Thanks again Thom.
