Look Who's Supporting Startup Act 2.0

With his ever-watchful eye on the latest policy news affecting entrepreneurship, Mark Marich has rounded up the most recent Startup Act 2.0 endorsements. Among those supporters is tech giant Google. For me, the power quote comes from Shawn Osborne of TechAmerica, who respectfully asks politicians to “clear the way for the main agents of innovations: the entrepreneurs who create new businesses.” Read Mark’s blog below and subscribe to the Policy Forum Blog's RSS feed to stay connected with policy news that impacts startups and job creation.

Since the House & Senate each passed identical versions of the Startup Act 2.0, the legislation has picked up a growing list of impressive endorsements. Topping the list is tech giant Google.

“As a onetime start-up that now employs thousands of Americans and continues to hire many more each year, we are proud to support Startup Act 2.0,” said former Rep. Susan Molinari, R-NY, Vice President of Public Policy, Google. “Small businesses often use Google to grow, expand and thrive online; and helping these businesses succeed is a key to our success.”

While some are skeptical that legislation can be passed in a typically partisan election year, its sponsors include those from both sides of the political aisle. But politics shouldn’t even be part of the equation said Shawn Osborne of TechAmerica in another endorsement.

“The best way to promote innovation is to clear the way for the main agents of innovation: the entrepreneurs who create new businesses,” said Osborne. “Startup Act 2.0 is smart policy which illustrates that entrepreneurship is not a Republican or Democratic idea. It’s an American idea.”
