To help bring more ladies together, we're moving our traditional 4th Wednesday meetup to The Ginger Man. The Ginger Man is already the meeting place for several other tech meetups, so if you've never been, it's definitely a good place to know. They have a wide selection of beers on tap, as well as wine and snacks. We'll find some couches where we can hang out and talk about technology in a setting more casual than the conference rooms our many gracious hosts have donated in the past. If you're not sure what the group's about, if there are any other women programming in your language of choice, or if you just want to drop by to meet people without hauling your laptop along, this is your opportunity to do just that!
This is an informal group of female developers in Austin, representing a wide variety of languages, backgrounds, and niches. We meet once a month or so to share information, do some coding, and hang out and talk. Bringing your laptop, your vexing technical problems, and your expertise is highly encouraged! We've had some members volunteer to give short presentations on various technologies, and we've also been lucky enough to have awesome sponsors who've provided beer, wine, and snacks. This is still a relatively new group, so if you have ideas for its future direction, you're definitely invited to help shape it!
You should join if:
- you're a woman
- you like writing code in any language
- you think a change of scenery might be kind of fun
PS: If you're looking for the more structured meetup, with talks, projects, and laptops, check the 2nd Wednesday of the month, when we'll continue having meetups in the original format!
