Many misconceptions exist around the viability of open source as a business advantage. We'll hear successful open source executives share how to make money out of free and open software by examining their past successes and exploring frameworks for aspiring open source entrepreneurs.

The event is co-hosted by Mozilla WebFWD, a 12-week business creation program dedicated to supporting the next generation of open web entrepreneurs, and 10gen, the supporters of MongoDB the open source, document oriented database.

Confirmed speakers to date include:

Ben Sabrin, VP of Sales, 10gen with prior executive sales experience at open source project JBoss as well as Appcelerator. Ben also founded and served as CEO of eHire.

Ed Albanese, Head of Global Alliances, Cloudera, responsible for partnerships, channels, OEM sales, new market identification/entry and alliance programs.

Matt Asay, SVP Business Development, Nodeable (Moderator). In addition to his executive roles at Nodeable and Canonical, Matt founded the Open Source Business Conference, has advised a range of open-source startups including SugarCRM, MuleSource, Volantis and JasperSoft, and has blogged on the business of open source for CNET, The Register and Wired.
