HIPAA Business Associates New Requirements and Responsibilities for Compliance 2013 And Beyond
HIPAA Business Associates: New Requirements and Responsibilities for Compliance - 2013 And Beyond
The HIPAA rules for Business Associates have been significantly modified such that HIPAA Business Associates are now covered directly under the HIPAA rules. The changes to the rules, effective last March and enforceable from September 23, 2013, create new challenges for HIPAA Covered Entities and Business Associates, and new risks for non-compliance and penalties.
Some of the most significant changes to HIPAA brought about by the HITECH Act have to do with how Business Associates of HIPAA covered entities are treated under the regulations. HIPAA Business Associates are now covered directly under the Privacy Rules’ use and disclosure limitations and the Security Rules’ safeguard provisions, are responsible for their own compliance with the regulations, and may be held directly liable for any violations of the regulations.
The webinar, ‘HIPAA Business Associates: New Requirements and Responsibilities for Compliance - 2013 And Beyond’, being conducted on 12-Dec-2013, will help health information professionals understand what they have to do, and what to keep in mind about business associates, in order to be prepared for compliance. It will provide a comprehensive look at the changes in the law and prepare attendees for the process of incorporating the changes into how they do business in their facilities.
