About the World Startup Report & Bowei Gai
Bowei Gai is a serial entrepreneur from Silicon Valley who sold the company he co-founded, CardMunch, to LinkedIn in 2011. On New Year's Eve of 2013, he boarded his first flight for a 9-months long trip across 29 countries and 36 cities to research the world's startup ecosystems.
Its purpose is to:
Understand the world's digital ecosystems: their success stories, strenghts and challenges
Connect with local entrepreneurs and active members of the startup community
Share best practices, connections and knowledge from Silicon Valley, and enrich them with new learnings
Bowei's first project, "The China Startup Report", received over 80,000 views on [the famous Indian site] SlideShare.
The Fellowship of the World Startup Report (hobbits and wizards are welcome too!)
Bowei is joined on his trip by various entrepreneurs and enthusiasts and he wishes to learn and share as much as possible about the people, companies and culture that make up the fabric of each city and country's ecosystem.
In India, Bowei is traveling with Benjamin Joffe. For the past 12 years, Benjamin has been living and researching digital ecosystems across Asia (China, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia) through his research & strategy advisory firm +8* | Plus Eight Star. Benjamin was a speaker at over 150 industry events across 21 countries, is frequently quoted in the media and is an angel investor in 10 startups including Cmune in China (makers of Facebook's largest shooter game UberStrike) and Gengo in Japan (world's largest human-powered translation platform).
