Doing Well by Doing Good: The B Corporation Way.

The role of business is under fire and it is time for a reboot. We are no longer satisfied with the current role of maximizing profits at all expense. Instead we need Business to create positive value for its stakeholders, to sustain, and to inspire.

MaRS Centre for Impact Investing, Sustainable Enterprise Alliance (SEA) and HUB Ottawa invite you for an evening to experience this movement already in action.

On January 30th, 2013 a selection of Ottawa based businesses will pitch how they use the power of business to solve social and environmental challenges. Provide your feedback on how they can get to the next level. Interact with other like-minded professionals and network with the Ottawa business community dedicated to creating positive social change. Learn about the growing movement of certified B Corporations that challenges the current definition of success and learn about the SVX, a new platform connecting impact ventures to impact investors.

Date: Wednesday, January 30th, 2013

Place: HUB Ottawa - 71 Bank Street

Time: 6:30pm - 8:30pm

Cost: $10 (Free for SEA and Hub Ottawa members)

Are you a social venture interested in increasing your profile by presenting a 5 min. pitch at this event? Are you considering becoming a B Corp? Answer the questions below (max 300 words) and send it to SEA Chair dongrant@sympatico.ca by Jan.18, 2013.

1. What is your business model (ie. revenue stream)?

2. How does your business create positive social/environmental change (or solve a current problem)?

3. What are your key challenges (ie. raising capital, measuring impact)?

The selected presenters will be contacted by Jan 25th 2013.
