Doubling down on design – June Movie Night

Posted on June 11, 2013 by Site Admin

This month we’re all about design with a video of a presentation by Brad Ellis of Pacific Helm, a design studio based in San Francisco that has worked on projects like The Magazine, Summly and Camera Noir.

Brad covers two main topics in his presentation. First up he talks about different types of designers, their different strengths and how they work with these different strengths to design great products (or not). Brad then gets his colour geek on and talks about a tool he created to help make sure a specific design always had the best colours, and standout text at the same time.

Come along to chat, share a drink, and enjoy the show.

See you then.

July Book Club – Lean UX

Posted on May 21, 2013 by Irith

The July Book Club is Lean UX, by Jeff Gothelf and Josh Seiden.

Inspired by lean and agile development theories, Lean UX lets you focus on the actual experience being designed, rather than deliverables. This book shows you how to collaborate closely with other members of the product team, and gather feedback early and often. You’ll learn how to drive the design in short, iterative cycles to assess what works best for the business and the user.

Lean UX shows you how to make this change—for the better.
