Department of Making and Doing Launch
DM+D Launch Party
Join us for the official launch of the Department of Making + Doing (www.dmdphilly.org), a special partnership between Breadboard, NextFab Studio, Public Workshop, and The Hacktory. The Department of Making + Doing, a recent winner of a Knight Art Challenge Grant, is an inter-generational, collaborative, hands-on, civic innovation workshop that provides the space, the tools, and the knowledge to empower youth, adults and community organizations—ultimately inspiring citizens to make and do great things in Philadelphia.
Stop by 3711 Market Street on May 11th from 2-6 pm and help us launch this exciting new space.
Work with others to build massive four story tall cardboard towers; laser cut or vinyl print your own I Heart (your neighborhood name) key chain or bumper sticker; try your hand with a japanese saw and help build a bench to improve a public space in Philadelphia; and you certainly wouldn't want to miss the opportunity to make light-up circuits out of various soft and squishy materials (you will have to come to find out more!) Show your love for making and doing and DM+D by bringing your own t-shirt or bag to silkscreen. There will also be tours and more information about what you can make and do at the Department of Making + Doing in the very near future. All ages and families welcome.
