We are the Toronto Ruby Brigade, a group of Toronto-based Ruby enthusiasts. Our goal is to create an environment where rubyists can learn together, regardless of skill level.

We provide three avenues for continuous improvement and growth. First and foremost, we will provide an avenue for developers to present their ideas and experiences through presentations and lightning talks.

Second, we can only become better ruby developers through practice. That is why we will have hack nights and work as a team to develop great software.

Third, we will continue to learn and grow by holding a book club where we as a group will pick a technical book and work together to dissect its ideas and lessons.

Hey all,

We are hosting a hack night the first Monday of every month here at the Influitive office. The idea behind this event is to get new and experienced Ruby developers to connect, find interesting projects to work on, and show off cool things they found over the course of the night.

Each hack night, anyone who wants to lead a project can write their idea on the whiteboard, and spend 5-10 minutes describing what they want to work on. Anyone attending can join up with any of the leaders, and we'll break into 4-5 groups each working on a cool, interesting problem.

Here's the structure we'll be working with for each Hack Night:

•6:30 - 7:00 - Leaders present their ideas for projects to work on

•7:00 - 9:30 - Break into groups, work on projects

•9:30 - 10:00 - Each group takes 5-10 minutes to present what they worked on and interesting things they learned or discovered.

We're going to focus on teaming up newer Ruby developers with more experienced devs. Developers of any skill level are welcome to attend.

If you're interested in leading a project, come in with your ideas and be ready to describe why you think it would be a cool learning opportunity for Ruby developers.

Looking forward to seeing you there!
