We are very excited to be bringing back the Vancouver Polyglot Software Conference for another year. The "non-denominational" software development un-conference event that encourages software developers from different stacks, background and with different opinions to come together for one day of spontaneous sharing, teaching and learning. Preceded by a day engaging tutorials and followed by a "just for fun of it" hack day.
What exactly do we mean by Polyglot?
Polyglot: a person who speaks, writes, or reads a number of languages.
Polyglot software development is the practice of utilizing multiple languagues, frameworks and stacks to build software. In many ways, and particularly for web developers, everyone seems to have at least bit of polyglot going on these days.
For us, at the core of the Polyglot Conference is creating an opportunity to celebrate software development diversity and break away from typically language-specific user groups and conferences to come together to talk about the challenges and interests that we all have in common.
When is it?
The event is being held in Vancouver, BC, on May 24th to 26th 2013. We will once again be holding workshops and tutorials on the Friday, have the main day conference on the Saturday, and run some sort of hackathon event on the Sunday.
Where is it?
Same place as last year the SFU Harbour Center building, right in the heart of beautiful downtown Vancouver. Complete with a stereotypically stunning view of the north shore mountains of course. This year both the tutorials and the conference will be held here.
Remember, this is your conference.
The Polyglot Conference is an unconference. This means we encourage, in fact require, everyone to come prepared to participate. Discuss, share, teach, ask and learn. An unconference is the most fun you can have at a conference, which is why it isn't a conference.
