ChildRoad aims to change how children and parents worldwide acquire and enjoy children's books by providing easy access to its online digital library that offers fresh and popular children's book titles in major languages. The company provides a Netflix model for unlimited digital book reading and listening for children four to twelve years of age worldwide, incentivizing children to read by creating class, grade, and school-based peer interactivity in a custom made social platform aimed at encouraging early reading and reading excellence. ChildRoad was established in 2009 and is headquartered in Fremont, Calif., with branch office in Hangzhou, China, the famous scenic city and IT hub in southeastern China.

ChildRoad launched its digital library subscription service in 2010, offering 1,500 story tiles in 500 digital books in the Chinese language. All books are licensed from top publishers, narrated by professional narrators, and can be viewed and heard at the same time with texts highlighted along with the voice. The company aims to add English and Spanish digital book services in 2011-12. ChildRoad is building the iOS and Android-based mobile access to its digital library, and will offer social features of the service in 2011.

Parents have given favorable feedback to ChildRoad service. Schools have been purchasing ChildRoad service for use at the school level. ChildRoad also is featured by Google in the Google Chrome App Store.

The founders, Jerry Huang and Michael Qin are both parents, and each has over fifteen years of international product management and program management experience in companies such as Google, Accenture, and Unisys.
