Mindblown Labs inspires kids to learn and empowers them to transform that learning into life skills. Our first offering is a mobile-based virtual economy for teens. In the Mindblown economy, teens will role-play life in their 20s, balancing the fantasies of their future selves against all the financial demands that come along with being an adult.
Think Farmville meets Mint.com. We use long-standing game design principles to give teens a platform in which to explore and practice their skills. As they move up in the game, kids will master the tradeoffs that underlie all of our lives without realizing they're learning.
Matt Garmur is a self-professed jack-of-all-trades who wants to make a difference in the world through education. Since graduating from Swarthmore College with degrees in computer science and music, he has worked as an assistant admissions director and teacher at a prestigious private school, a guitarist and vocalist in a professional acoustic band, and a software engineer and freelance programmer, while also defending his status as a national-level Ultimate Frisbee player.
Jason Young is an entrepreneur who is passionate about empowering others. Jason started his first business, a full-service travel agency, at age thirteen. The first child in his family to graduate from college, he earned a degree in economics from Harvard College. Jason worked in the financial services and consumer web industries at Merrill Lynch and Wikinvest.com, respectively, before focusing on e-learning program development.
