The Coursebook is the "Yelp of lifelong-learning," making it easy to discover courses and compare user reviews and ratings for all continuing-education classes. The Coursebook personalizes learning by intelligently connecting learners to high-quality in-person and online educational resources based on their needs and aspirations. The Coursebook is an open and transparent educational marketplace currently listing more than 2,000 open-enrollment classes from the San Francisco bay area and has thousands of monthly page views.

The Coursebook was founded by Alexandre Scialom, a lifelong-learner who most recently taught himself web programming. Alexandre was trained as an engineer in France, researched space robotics at Carnegie Mellon University, and was a consultant at Accenture in Paris for three years. After earning his MBA from the University of California at Berkeley, he joined Box.net, an online file storage service, as the company's fifth employee and first "business person." Alexandre spearheaded Box.net's transition from the consumer to the enterprise market and worked on the company's overall strategy, product roadmap, and marketing activities.
