The Policy Dialogue on Entrepreneurship informs and connects thought leaders looking to understand policies that help entrepreneurs start companies, create jobs and re-start the economy.
During the “Presidential Summit on Entrepreneurship” hosted by President Barack Obama in Washington, DC, in April 2010, it became clear that the seeds of entrepreneurship as an economic development policy and diplomatic tool had been planted. Today, I send in a quick report from the Second Global Summit on Entrepreneurship in Istanbul which has brought together approximately 1200 successful entrepreneurs and leaders from Turkey and across the world for idea sharing under the general theme of “Entrepreneurship, Values and Development: A Global Agenda”. Turkey’s Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan hosted the event and US Vice President Joe Biden spoke yesterday.
VC Money: If You Don’t Need It, Don’t Take It
Recently, the Kauffman Foundation has been releasing a series of ‘sketchbook’ videos to “demystify the phenomenon of entrepreneurship and bring to light messages about the important role entrepreneurs play in innovation, job creation, and economic growth.” The latest in the series features Paul Kedrosky, a senior fellow at the Foundation as well as an investor and entrepreneur himself.
NIH Looks to Streamline Commercialization
The National Institutes of Health is launching a new web portal aimed at streamlining the federal government’s technology transfer process. If successful, the site could reduce response time for unpatented materials from six months to a few days.

Every other year, community development professionals gather to review best practices and network at the National Interagency Community Reinvestment Conference.
