As Chief Technology Officer and Executive Vice President of Research and Development at Sun, Greg Papadopoulos directs the company's approximate $2B in R&D portfolio with an eye toward innovation, simplicity, and eco-responsibility. With more than 20 years experience in the technology industry, Papadopoulos is responsible for managing Sun's technology decisions and architecture. His team leads Sun Labs, the DARPA High Performance Computing Systems program, global engineering architecture, and advanced development programs. Passionate about technology and its possibilities, Papadopoulos supports open development models that stimulate communication, creativity, and innovation, which he promotes through his blog, Greg Matter, as well as numerous speaking engagements. During his tenure with Sun, Papadopoulos has held several positions, including Vice President of Technology and Advanced Development for the company's systems business, Chief Scientist for Server Systems Engineering, and Chief Scientist for Enterprise Servers and Storage. Before joining Sun in 1994, Papadopoulos was a senior architect and director of product strategy for Thinking Machines, where he led the design of the CM6 massively parallel supercomputer. Papadopoulos was an associate professor of electrical engineering and computer science at MIT, where he conducted research in scalable systems, multi threaded/data flow processor architecture, functional and declarative languages, and fault-tolerant computing. Papadopoulos also worked as a development engineer at Hewlett-Packard and Honeywell, where he designed flight-control systems for Boeing jetliners. He co-founded three companies: PictureTel (video conferencing), Ergo (high-end PCs) and Exa Corporation (computational fluid dynamics). Anna Patterson is President and Founder of search engine Cuil. Her focus is on scaling architecture, tackling one of the major problems in search-the exponential growth of the Internet. Anna was the architect of Google?s large search index, TeraGoogle, that launched in early 2006. While at Google, Anna was the technical lead of one of the two Web ranking groups at Google, in charge of GoogleBase, and the manager for the core piece of Google's ad-matching technology. She joined Google in 2004 after designing, writing and selling Recall-the largest search engine in existence at the time at 12 billion pages. Anna has a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and was a Research Scientist at Stanford University.
Timothy C. Draper is the Founder and a Managing Director of Draper Fisher Jurvetson. He was instrumental in bringing viral marketing to web-based e-mail to geometrically spread the successes of Hotmail and YahooMail, and the practice has been adopted as a standard marketing technique by countless businesses and organizations. Draper launched the DFJ Global Network, an international network of early-stage venture capital funds with offices in over 30 cities around the globe. He also serves on the boards of Skype, SocialText, Project Y, MailFrontier and Chroma Graphics. He was an original investor in Parametric Technology (PMTC), Tumbleweed Communications (TMWD), Overture.com (OVER), Digidesign (AVID), Preview Travel (TVLY), Four11 (YHOO), Combinet (CSCO), and Redgate (AOL). He also founded or co-founded Wasatch Ventures (Salt Lake City), Zone Ventures (LA), Draper Atlantic (Reston), Draper Triangle (Pittsburg), Timberline Ventures (Portland), Polaris Fund (Anchorage), Draper Fisher Jurvetson Gotham (NYC) and DFJ Frontier (Sacramento and Santa Barbara). Draper has been recognized as a leader in entrepreneurship and venture capital through numerous awards and honors, and he has frequent TV, radio, and headline appearances. He was number seven on Forbes? Midas List and number 52 on the list of the most influential Harvard Alumni. He was also named AlwaysOn Magazine?s number one top venture capital dealmaker for 2008. Tim is the course creator and Chairman of BizWorld, a 501c3 organization built around simulated teaching of entrepreneurship and business to children. He holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University, and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
Steve Perricone is President, CEO, and Co-founder of BioFuelBox Corporation. And he has over 20 years experience in the technology industry, with over half of those years in start-up environments. Perricone was Vice President of Worldwide Sales for SonicWALL, which he joined when it had less than 20 employees. Perricone was instrumental in the growth of the company, and expanded it to over 450 employees worldwide. He was directly responsible for building the worldwide channel for SonicWALL?s security products from the product line?s inception in 1998. That successful channel and sales organization contributed to near immediate company profitability and aggregate revenues of over $200 million in the first three years. Prior to SonicWALL, Perricone was a senior executive in two other technology start-ups - Network TeleSystems (acquired by Siemens) and Structured Internetworks. He is an alumnus of California State University, Chico.
Eric Ries is the author of the blog Lessons Learned. He was the co-founder and served as Chief Technology Officer of IMVU, his third startup. He is the co-author of several books including The Black Art of Java Game Programming (Waite Group Press, 1996). In 2007, BusinessWeek named Ries one of the Best Young Entrepreneurs of Tech. He serves on the advisory board of a number of technology startups including pbWiki, Smule, 750i and KaChing.
Katie Rodan, M.D., is the co-developer of Proactiv Solution, a highly successful acne skin care system for adults and teens, launched in 1995. Proactiv Solution continues to monopolize the acne skin care market as it offers a solution for both treatment and prevention. Proactiv Solution has been used by over three million people, positioning Dr. Rodan in the forefront of acne treatment in the medical community. A well-recognized expert in her field, Dr. Rodan has been interviewed and quoted in many national magazines, including Cosmopolitan, Glamour, Self, McCall's, Allure, Teen, Cosmogirl, Oprah, Redbook, Mirabella, Elle and Reader's Digest. She was featured in First Magazine for Women, "Secrets of the Beauty Docs" (July 1996) and in Harper's Bazaar, "Five Hot Derms" (April 1998). She is a guest medical correspondent for KRON-TV News, the NBC affiliate in San Francisco, and has appeared on national television shows, such as The Montel Williams Show, Barbara Walters' The View, and Later Today. In addition, Dr. Rodan has been included in Best Doctors in America. Dr. Rodan is an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor, Dermatology, Stanford University School of Medicine. She has a private practice in medical, surgical and cosmetic dermatology in Oakland, CA. Dr. Rodan received her undergraduate degree in history from the University of Virginia and her medical degree from the University of Southern California School of Medicine in Los Angeles. As Senior Vice President of Hardware, Matt Hershenson brings a wealth of experience to Danger. He is responsible for Danger's hardware engineering, development and design efforts. Before co-founding Danger, Matt managed the hardware group at Mainbrace Corporation, a Windows CE systems integrator. Prior to Mainbrace Corporation, Matt served in various roles at Philips Electronics. During his tenure with the Philips Mobile Computing Group, he was responsible for the hardware of the Velo-1 handheld PC, one of the first Windows CE devices. While at Philips Semiconductors, Matt served as a systems architect, where he played an integral role in the design of numerous consumer handheld devices, including the Sharp Mobilon, Philips Nino, and the Compaq C-series. Before Philips, Matt was a hardware engineer with Catapult Entertainment, since acquired by Hearme. He was part of the team that turned the vision of multi-player gaming over the Internet into a reality. He handled all aspects of product development and design for the XBAND Video Game Modem. Matt also played a key role in the product development and design of the Apple Powerbook 150, then Apple's most affordable PowerBook computer. Matt also co-founded MOTO Development Group, a product design consultancy firm specializing in product development. MOTO aided in the design of many technical products, such as remote controls for Apple Interactive TV.

William Sahlman is the Dimitri V. d'Arbeloff - Class of 1955 Professor of Business Administration at Harvard Business School. The d'Arbeloff Chair was established in 1986 to support teaching and research on the entrepreneurial process. The Chair honors the late Dimitri d'Arbeloff (HBS '55), whose entrepreneurial skills helped make Millipore Corporation a world leader in its industry. Mr. Sahlman received an A.B. degree in Economics from Princeton University, an M.B.A. from Harvard University, and a Ph.D. in Business Economics, also from Harvard. His research focuses on the investment and financing decisions made in entrepreneurial ventures at all stages in their development. Mr. Sahlman was co-chair of the Entrepreneurship and Service Management Unit from 1999 to 2002. From 1991 to 1999, he was Senior Associate Dean, Director of Publishing Activities, and chairman of the board for Harvard Business School Publishing Corporation. From 1990 to 1991, he was chairman of the Harvard University Advisory Committee on Shareholder Responsibility. He is a member of the board of directors of several private companies.
In March 2008 Sheryl Sandberg was named COO of Facebook, where she manages business operations including sales, marketing, business development, human resources, public policy, privacy, and communications. Prior to Facebook, Sheryl was Vice President of Global Online Sales and Operations at Google, where she built and managed the online sales channels for advertising and publishing and operations for consumer products globally. She was also instrumental in launching Google's philanthropic arm. Sheryl was previously Chief of Staff for the United States Treasury Department under President Bill Clinton. She was also a management consultant with McKinsey & Company and an economist with The World Bank. Sheryl holds a Master's degree in business administration with highest distinction from the Harvard Business School and a bachelor's degree summa cum laude in economics from Harvard University.
