Highlighting this week’s slate of hearings on Capitol Hill is a review by the House Finance Committee on “Legislative Proposals to Facilitate Small Business Capital Formation & Job Creation.” Getting a peak are: the Small Company Job Growth & Regulatory Relief Act of 2011; the Private Company Flexibility and Growth Act; the Entrepreneur Access to Capital Act; and, the Access to Capital for Job Creators Act.
Congress is back in session and a number of relevant hearings are set for the coming week including several on tax reform and a House Judiciary Committee look at “The Investor Visa Program” and its ability to create jobs in the U.S.
The U.S. Congress is currently observing the typical August / Summer recess. They are scheduled to return to Washington on Tuesday, September 6, following the Labor Day holiday.
Members of the House are back in their home districts for a Constituent Work Week and will return after the Independence Day holiday. On the Senate side, a light week is highlighted by a Finance Committee hearing on simplifying the tax code.

Commercialization and job creation in nanotechnology get a look from the Senate Committee on Science, Commerce & Transportation this week, while a joint hearing on "Tax Reform & the Tax Treatment of Debt and Equity" brings together the House Committee on Ways & Means and the Senate Finance Committee.
A handful of hearings are scheduled for the week ahead, including: the House Committee on Small Business looking at how industry-led portable skills certification programs are meeting the workforce needs of new and small firms; and, the House Committee on Financial Services reviewing legislative proposals to reform the Securities and Exchange Commission.
