Partnering for Cures conference focuses on biotech research

What mechanisms can be used to direct capital to early-stage biotech research? How can we bring fundamental change to the regulatory process for drugs and devices? These are some of the questions being addressed at Partnering for Cures, an annual conference bringing together more than 800 leaders in biomedical research. The event kicked off Sunday night and continues today and Tuesday in New York City.

The third annual conference, hosted by the nonprofit think tank FasterCures, aims to shed light on our rapidly changing healthcare business landscape and how companies and the government can balance innovation with efficiency.

Throughout the next few days, we’ll have coverage and video from sessions on the role of the National Institutes of Health in taking innovative ideas from preclinical development to clinical research and how biotech and pharmaceutical companies should collaborate in pre-competitive areas of research. We’ll also be covering panels discussing advice for new innovators and streamlining the regulatory protocols for repurposing drugs.

Featured speakers include FasterCures’ chairman Michael Milken, U.S. Food and Drug Administration Commissioner Margaret Hamburg, NIH Director Francis Collins, and Biotechnology Industry Organization CEO James Greenwood.
