The Outlook for Federal Contracting

Mark Marich

If you want to succeed in getting Federal government business in 2009, you better embrace innovation. That’s a primary take-away from Washington Technology’s 2009 outlook for Federal government contracting. The massive economic stimulus package will dominate the contracting world in early 2009, but companies cannot simply expect that contracts will fall into their laps. In addition to embracing innovation, contractors must also make a real commitment to transparency and accountability, both of which have received extensive attention in the Obama campaign and its discussions of economic stimulus. Contractors may also face a changed environment on Capitol Hill. Rep. Edolphus Towns (D-NY) is assuming the Chairmanship of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, and he has already signaled that procurement reform and contractor oversight will be priority topics this year.

“Innovate to Thrive in 2009,” Washington Technology’s outlook for Federal contracting in 2009 appears in its January 2009 issue.
