Startup Act Discussed on Senate Floor

Mark Marich

U.S. Senator Jerry Moran took to the floor of the U.S. Senate last week, vowing to introduce new legislation that would create an environment for new firms to start, grow and create jobs. Citing many of the ideas in the Kauffman Foundation's Startup Act of 2011, Moran presented "pro-growth principles" that he said would give job creators the confidence to hire more people, including:

  • Removing barriers to entrepreneurial growth
  • Moving research for the university lab to the marketplace
  • Attracting and retaining entrepreneurial talent
  • Encouraging pro-growth policies at the state and local levels

Kauffman's Startup Act is a set of non-partisan ideas to jump-start the ailing U.S. economy and increase job creation by accelerating the growth of startups and young businesses.
