Entrepreneurs Could Bring Savings, Innovation to Government

Mark Marich

It has been almost two years since Dell announced its own entrepreneur-in-residence program and now it is trying to convince state and federal agencies that it would be a good idea for them to do the same.

Back in September 2011, Steve Felice announced that Ingrid Vanderveldt would be serving as the software giant's first EIR. Fast forward to last month at a FedTalks appearance in Washington DC and Felice is talking about a plan to put 30 EIRs in various federal agencies—for a period of up to two years—to spur innovation and job creation.

He pointed to momentum in eight U.S. states, including Virginia which was the first state to officially enact EIR legislation.
