Tales from an Entrepreneurial Culture

Mark Marich

I admit it. I was one of those guys who ready Douglas Coupland’s ‘Generation X: Tales of an Accelerated Culture’ and watched all the generational angst movies of the early ‘90s like Richard Linklater’s ‘Slacker’ (or Reality Bites’ for the more commercially mainstream audiences). We were different and better than Baby Boomers and wanted to make sure everyone knew why.
After a while, it just didn’t seem as interesting a topic. Every generation – Boomers, Gen Xers, Millenials being the most recent – seems so eager to claim their independence… and superiority. But does the same generational conflict apply to entrepreneurs?
It shouldn’t, according to a new Huffington Post piece by Ted Zoller, the president of Kauffman Labs. Zoller argues:
This generation needs its Zucks as we needed ours, but perhaps most importantly, for us to sustain an entrepreneurially-driven economy, we need one another.
