The Economy and Small Business in the First Quarter
The SBA recently released the latest Quarterly Indicators. Not surprisingly, poor sales and access to credit are major issues for small business owners these days. Incorporated self-employment fell by 200,000. Yet, entrepreneurs are not giving up. Unincorporated self-employment has recovered to its March 2008 level. Further, the most recent American Express Small Business Monitor survey shows that 37 percent of small businesses see growth opportunities in the next six months, with 28 percent planning to hire employees in the coming months.
