ToHUG (Toronto Hadoop User Group) is a nonprofit organization uniting people in the GTA area who are interested in Hadoop and all of its related technologies. We hope to create and foster a vibrant community of like minded individuals who are interested in learning together, helping each other succeed with Hadoop technologies and to have some fun in the process. Anyone who has interest in learning more about big data and Hadoop is invited to join.
.
Note the new date (July 17) as many people will be away on Holidays...
Hadoop is maturing as a technology and the latest version, 2.0, is starting to show the benefits of it's amazing increase in adoption for Data Processing and Data Analysis in the Business and Academic worlds. If you want to make some decisions about how to move forward with Hadoop's latest release, this would be a good presentation for you.
I will be highlighting and demoing new features found in Hadoop 2.0. I will be using CDH4 as a reference distribution but this presentation is vendor-neutral and will apply equally to all distros on Hadoop 2.0.
I will cover:
- HDFS Federated NameNode
- HDFS HA NameNode
- MR2/YARN
- HBase Coprocessors (0.92)
- HBase Security (0.92)
I can bring some common use cases to the table but I would like to hear what drives you to Hadoop. Bring your Hadoop to the table...
Thanks to Scalar for hosting this meeting at their office in the beautiful SAS Building downtown!
