Startup Weekend is a global grassroots movement of active and empowered entrepreneurs who are learning the basics of founding startups and launching successful ventures. It is the largest community of passionate entrepreneurs with over 400 past events in 100 countries around the world in 2011.
This year, Boston presents "The Battle For The Charles", a staged event where teams from Boston go head-to-head with their best new ideas and concepts, followed by a 54-hour frenzy of business model creation, coding, designing, and market validation, culminating in a showdown on Sunday, November 11th, when one team will reign supreme!
FRIDAY Band together at NERD with other passionate collaborators, form a squad, find your Home Base, and start your Battle plans!
SATURDAY Report to your Home Base (NERD or Bocoup Loft), meet with mentors, collaborate and innovate, and get ready for Battle!
SUNDAY Invade NERD, finish preparations for Battle, take down the competition, claim your spoils, and celebrate at the after party!
Victory at home is only the first step toward Global Startup Battle domination! Boston's top teams will have the opportunity to compete against winners from around the world until just one startup is left standing. Prizes include launch packages, VIP trips to Rio De Janiero and San Francisco, design services, legal support, and more!
The non-profit organization is headquartered in Seattle, Washington but Startup Weekend organizers and facilitators can be found in over 200 cities around the world. From Mongolia to South Africa to London to Brazil, people around the globe are coming together for weekend long workshops to pitch ideas, form teams, and start companies.
