Your Lesson

One of the many hats that founders have to wear is that of CFO. Unfortunately, accounting is not the easiest to pick up on the fly. Join us as Marla Huizing of Beene Garter discusses the basics of accounting. Topics will include tracking accounts, doing taxes correctly, and knowing when to outsource to professionals.

Your Instructor

With over 30 years of experience in public accounting, Marla Huizing has assisted clients in achieving their financial goals in a wide variety of industries. She is the Partner-In-Charge of the firm’s Tax Department and Small Business Group.

Marla is passionate about working with small businesses and their related individuals. She strives to provide clients with the comfort and personalization of a small service provider, backed by the resources of the area’s largest independently owned accounting and consulting firm.

Marla’s areas of expertise include individual, corporate, partnership, limited liability company, estate, gift, and fiduciary taxation. She has also worked extensively in tax planning, consulting, financial planning, tax research and transaction analysis. Marla possesses the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation and consults with her clients in the areas of financial planning, risk management, estate planning and retirement and employee benefits. Marla holds a Certified Senior Advisor (CSA) designation, allowing her to provide specialty services to the changing needs of a growing senior population.
