Erik Rannala, Co-Founder & Managing Partner @ MuckerLab
Prior to founding MuckerLab, Erik was most recently at Harrison Metal Capital where he helped lead one of the most successful seed-stage venture capital firms in Silicon Valley. Since 2008, Harrison Metal has invested in over 40 companies, including Aardvark (GOOG), DocVerse (GOOG), Heroku (CRM), Manymoon (CRM), MixerLab (Twitter) and ZipZapPlay (ERTS).
Before Harrison Metal, Erik was most recently vice president of product management and strategy at TripAdvisor, the largest travel community site on the Web. In that role, he led product strategy and development for TripAdvisor sites in the US, UK, France, Italy, Germany and Spain, as well distributed applications and syndicated content on partner sites like Facebook.
Prior to TripAdvisor, Erik spent over four years at eBay, where he held a variety of positions, including leadership of eBay’s premium features business, which grew during his tenure from $124 million in revenue in 2002 to $410 million in 2005, significantly outpacing overall eBay revenue and listings growth.
Previously, Erik held leadership roles at MVP.com, where he was the online sporting goods retailer’s first marketing employee, and at Accenture, where he advised Fortune 500 retail, communications, and consumer products clients on strategy, operations and technology engagements. He was also an early member of Accenture’s first practice group dedicated to Internet strategy and development in the mid-1990’s.
Erik earlier served at the Domestic Policy Council in the White House, where he worked on issues such as equal employment opportunity and Native American affairs. Erik holds a BS from the University of Delaware and an MBA from Duke University.
Howard Marks, Founder and Co-Chair @ StartEngine
Howard Marks is the founder and co-chair of StartEngine, Los Angeles' largest startup accelerator, determined to make LA a top tech entrepreneurial city. Marks was the founder and CEO of Acclaim Games (now owned by Disney), and the co-Founder of Activision and Chairman of Activision Studios (1991-1997). In 1991, Marks and a partner transformed ailing video game giant Activision into a $14B market cap video game industry leader. Marks has a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering from the University of Michigan, is bilingual and is a triple national of the U.S., United Kingdom, and France, and has over 30 years of experience as a veteran of the technology industry.
TX Zhuo, Managing Partner @ Karlin Ventures
TX is the Managing Partner of Karlin Ventures and has been involved in the startup space since his college days. He started an online textbook retail company while in college, served as the CFO for an electric vehicle startup, Lit Motors, and worked for Innovation Endeavors, a seed stage venture fund backed by Eric Schmidt. Prior to Innovation Endeavors, TX worked for McKinsey & Co in their London office where he was part of their financial institutions and consumer goods practices. TX received a M.B.A. from the Stanford Graduate School of Business and a B.A. in Economics and Mathematics (summa cum laude) from Wesleyan University. TX is also an Associate of Chartered Accountants (U.K.) affiliate.
