So I'm sure by now you've at least heard of F# and functional programming. And you've probably thought to yourself--I don't get it? What's the fuss about? I've been coding C# for years and it just keeps getting better. They just added async programming with C# 5. Why should I learn a new language?
Onorio will attempt to answer that central question--why should I learn F# (and by extension functional programming) by discussing what F# is, what it isn't and what that means to working .Net developers. By the end of Onorio's talk, you should have a better notion of what F# is and how it may fit into your work.
Onorio is a software engineer for Quicken Loans in Detroit. Onorio's been playing with F# since 2007 and writing software for a living since 1987. Onorio has lead the Great Lakes Functional Programming Conference in 2012 as well as being very active in the functional programming community in the Metro Detroit area.
When he's not coding interesting solutions in F#, Onorio enjoys birdwatching and learning more about Ornithology in general.
